Paul Newman was an American actor and philanthropist famous for both his movies and for his food company, Newman's Own. He won an Academy Award for his performance in the 1986 film The Color of Money, and garnered acclaim for his roles in The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Road to Perdition, and many others. On Broadway, Newman was praised for his performance in a 2003 production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. A lifelong democrat and a vocal supporter of gay rights, Newman considered his position on Richard Nixon's enemies list to be his greatest accomplishment. He died in 2008 after a robust and storied career.
