Emmy® Award–winning host and New York Times bestselling author Rachel Maddow has earned a Best Spoken Word Album GRAMMY® Award for the audiobook recording of Blowout, published by Penguin Random House Audio. The Recording Academy® announced the award yesterday during the GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony®, broadcast virtually from Los Angeles.
Blowout, Maddow’s 2019 investigative account exposing the oil and gas industry, was a #1 New York Times best seller and spent three months on the audio nonfiction best seller list. In their audio review, Booklist said “Maddow’s narration elevates the listening experience.” Blowout was produced on audio by Aaron Blank, directed by Scott Sherratt, and is also available in print from Crown.
This is Rachel Maddow’s first win but second GRAMMY nomination; her #1 bestselling Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power, was a Best Spoken Word album nominee in 2012.
