NYCC 2019
New York Comic Con: A Guide to Audio Events!

GREAT NEWS! New York City Comic Con is almost here, and we are thrilled that the audiobook team will be back again this year.

Kick off NYCC on Thursday, October 3 with a Star Wars‒filled day! Stop by Booth 2205-A to listen to an audio clip from the new Star Wars audiobook exclusive Dooku: Jedi Lost, or play Star Wars‒themed audiobook trivia to participate in a three-part #ResistanceReborn mission and earn a mystery prize. Fans of Thrawn can purchase our Thrawn: Treason Con Exclusive Audiobook Edition for $45.00, which includes a digital audiobook on a custom USB and a card signed by author Timothy Zahn and narrator Marc Thompson. This will be the last time you will hear from the Grand Admiral!

Also on Thursday, October 3 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Room 1A24, get the inside scoop on how the Star Wars audiobooks are recorded and produced from narrators Marc Thompson, Euan Morton, and Saskia Maarleveld, moderated by Penguin Random House Audio producer Nick Martorelli, in Star Wars Audiobooks: A Behind-the-Scenes Conversation.

Later during the day on Thursday, October 3, join us from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in Room 1A10 as Randall Munroe, creator of xkcd, discusses his new book, How To: Absurd Scientific Advice for Common Real-World Problems, accompanied by exclusive clips from the How To audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton. Stop by Booth 2205-A on Saturday October 5 to listen to more clips from the audiobook.

With so many highly-anticipated movies and shows coming out this fall, test your book-to-screen audiobook trivia knowledge on Friday, October 4 at Booth 2205-A, in categories titled The Shining, His Dark Materials, Little Women, and Looking for Alaska. Sticking to the book-to-screen theme, listen to an exclusive audio clip from the graphic novel‒turned‒audiobook Cheshire Crossing by #1 New York Times‒bestselling author of The Martian and Artemis, Andy Weir. The heroines of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of Oz join forces to defend their classic worlds from villainous threats in this funny and boundlessly inventive audiobook.

On Saturday, October 5, win Harry Potter swag by stopping by our booth 2205-A. All you need to do is say the secret Dark Arts Spell “Avada Kedavra” to a Penguin Random House Audio rep and follow us on IG @prhaudio, or play our Harry Potter audiobook trivia game.

There’s no better way to get in the Halloween spirit than with a spooky story, and nothing is scarier than middle school. Stop by Booth 2205-A on Sunday October 6 to listen to a clip from the graphic novel debut—now adapted for audio—of Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson. The Newbery Honor Award Winner and New York Times best seller Roller Girl is a heartwarming tale about friendship and surviving junior high through the power of roller derby.
